This particular baby monitor is a top baby shower registry item for many reasons. The most unique feature of the Angelcare monitor is the sensor pad that is placed under your baby's crib mattress. This sensor sounds an alarm if your baby is completely still for 20 seconds. It appears your baby is completely still during sleep, but in fact babies move quite a bit during sleep and the sensor pad can pick up even the slightest of movements. The alarm will sound in the baby's room and Parents' Unit receiver. There are two of these receivers included for your convenience. To use the Angelcare baby monitor, it is necessary that the crib have a flat, hard surface underneath the mattress. If your baby's crib does not have this, you can improvise with a thin wood board or masonite cut to fit the crib. Angelcare actually makes their own masonite board that can be purchased or ordered along with the baby monitor if necessary. To ensure your monitor works correctly, double check to make sure you have the sensor pad positioned right side up. There are instructions that come with this product and it is easy to set up.

Angelcare baby monitors also have audio and the traditional audio lights that correspond to the level of activity in your baby's room. So, not only are you able to monitor your baby through the usual method of audio monitor, you are also able to monitor their breathing with the sensor pad. For premature babies this product is highly recommended, although all babies can benefit. The only time you might get a false alarm is if your baby is highly active and manages to somehow get off the sensor pad.
