What are Movement Baby Monitors?
If you are preparing for your new arrival or he or she is already here, you need a baby monitor. Movement baby monitors represent a growing trend in the industry. You may also hear these monitors referred to as breathing monitors. These monitors go beyond monitoring the sounds made by your baby. They use ultra sensitive sensor pads that detect even the softest movement and sound an alarm if no movement is detected within 20 seconds. For parents with premature babies or those worried about SIDS these baby monitors are very useful. Even full term healthy babies often have parents who worry about SIDS and frequently check on their baby at the cost of their own sleep.
A movement monitor can be just the thing to help you relax and keep your baby safe. There are a variety of choices out there, but they work in the same basic way. The sensor pad, or pads, are placed under the crib mattress and the transmitter is set up. It is necessary to have either a thin hard plank or a Masonite board under the crib on which to set the sensor pad. When your baby is placed on the pad, it picks up all their movements, even those that may be undiscernable to the eye.
The receiver to such a monitor is usually quite portable and some units come with two receivers. You can also hear audio through your receiver and it most likely features lights that correspond to the level of audio in your baby's room. When it comes to choosing the right baby monitor, the best thing to do is research each one you are interested in and find some objective consumer reviews. These reviews, on sites like Amazon and Epinions, can be very helpful when you are trying to choose between products.
Angelcare movement baby monitors are made by Graco, although they used to be a product of the Bebe Sounds company. This monitor comes with two receivers, a transmitter and of course the sensor pad. Other monitors of this type you may want to take a look at include the BabySense V Infant Movement Monitor and the Snuza Halo Baby Movement monitor. They all include the same basic setup and work in the same way although you may prefer a certain one to the others because of price and features.
